about
“Creating worlds in the in-between, through theatre, poetry, and storytelling.”
I am a South African–German interdisciplinary performer, writer, and facilitator working across theatre, poetry, and storytelling. My practice explores collaborative distant intimacy and the idea of home as a shifting, multilingual space. Drawing on the Call & Response tradition of South African storytelling, I create work that embraces dialogue—between people, histories, and creative forms. I apply these principles across all my creative projects, from theatre productions to poetry performances, workshops, and teaching.
My work resonates across disciplines—my theatre pieces are often born from poems, and stories emerge from songs. I create in an English influenced by Zulu, Xhosa, and German, allowing these languages to expand my creative expression when English alone doesn’t suffice. The rhythm of Xhosa inspires the reinterpretation of German songs, blending my diverse lineages into a singular, evolving voice.
My theatre and performance work has been showcased internationally, with notable projects including When Coasts Meet(National Arts Festival, 2019, Ovation Fringe Award) and Waiting for Lift Off (University of Johannesburg, 2024). I have performed at festivals and venues such as Westminster Abbey, Poetry Africa, Barbican, Southbank Centre, and Translationale Berlin, and in 2024, I was awarded Grand Finalist – National Winner in the Mili Dueli International Poetry Contest.
I am currently part of the Camden People’s Theatre Starting Blocks scheme (2025) and have been selected as a Barbican Young Poet (2023/24 & 2024/25). I was honoured to a 2024 High Rise New Gens Foundations artist. My academic journey was supported by the Oppenheimer Memorial Trust and Cecil Renaud Educational & Charitable Trust Scholarships, funding my MA in Performance Making at Goldsmiths, University of London (Distinction).
My practice extends into facilitation, where I lead Call & Response workshops that integrate storytelling, poetry, and collaborative creativity. These workshops are adaptable for commissions and have been hosted by institutions such as Goldsmiths University and the Barbican.
